* Low Right Atrial Pressure (5 mmHg): Inferior vena cava diameter less than 1.5 cm. Greater than 50% change in caval diameter with respiration or with a sniff.
* Normal Right Atrial Pressure (10 mmHg): Normal inferior vena cava diameter: 1.5 to 2.5 cm. Less than 50% change in diameter with normal respiration or with a sniff.
* Elevated Right Atrial Pressure: Dilated inferior vena cava. Dilated hepatic veins. Little or no respiratory change in caval diameter.
* Inferior vena cava size does not predict right atrial pressures in patients receiving mechanical ventilation.

Pressão atrial igual ou superior a 15 mmhg, é importante considerar a hipótese de pressões de até 25 mmhg.
